2007 Hellbender Symposium

2005

The 2nd Hellbender Symposium was held June 19-22, 2005 at Gaston's White River Resort in Lakeview, Arkansas.

Once again, there was a good turnout of researchers and people interested in conservation of North America's giant salamanders at this year's Hellbender Symposium. Around 70 people attended from various parts of the United States, and one person (Sumio Okada) flew in from Japan.

2003

Co-organizers: Jeff Humphries, Clemson University and John Jensen, Georgia DNR

The 1st Hellbender Symposium was held July 24-26, 2003 at Unicoi State Park in Helen, Georgia. Over 70 people from universities, state and federal agencies, and zoos and aquariums attended the meeting. This meeting was the first of its kind to address declining hellbender populations on a national level.
